How to export photos from a vault (and why it must always work)

Getting photos out of a vault app: to Photos, to Files, or as an encrypted archive, and the rule that export is never paid.

Your photos are yours. Getting them out should be as easy as putting them in.

Three ways out of Vaultpod

Save to Photos. Select one or many, Export, Save to Photos. They go back into the library with their dates.

Save to Files. Same menu. Decrypted copies go to a folder you choose in the Files app.

Encrypted archive. Backup, Export an encrypted archive. This is the vault as it sits on disk, still encrypted, in one folder. Keep it on a computer or a drive. Vaultpod can restore from it later with the recovery phrase, on a fresh install.

Export everything

The Share button on the home screen exports every file in the vault. For a big vault, plug in the charger; decrypting thousands of files takes a few minutes.

The rule

Export, viewing and deleting are free on every plan and after any subscription ends. An app that charges to give you back your own photos should not have them in the first place.
