A photo vault with iCloud backup, without giving Apple the photos

How encrypted backup to your own iCloud works, why it is free in Vaultpod, and what to check before you trust it.

The number one way people lose vault photos is not hacking. It is a lost, broken or replaced phone with no backup, or a backup that nobody ever tested.

How it works

Vaultpod encrypts each file on the phone, then uploads the encrypted copy to your own iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit. It uses your iCloud storage, not a server of ours. Apple holds scrambled data and cannot decrypt it. There is no account with us; the recovery phrase is what brings the vault back.

Why free

A vault that only backs up if you pay holds your files hostage. Backup, restore and export are free in Vaultpod on every plan.

Test restore

One tap, type your phrase, and the app proves the backup opens and every file is in iCloud. Do this once after setup and again before you switch phones.

What to watch

The free iCloud tier is 5 GB. Video-heavy vaults fill it. The Backup row on the home screen says in plain words when the backup is paused and why: iCloud full, signed out, no connection.
